About Brown
Brown Schoolhouse is a series of books and exercises from a concept I developed as I did workshops based on my first book Brown All Over. As I traveled to preschools, elementary schools and community spaces, I realized that topics I was being asked to address related to many stories and not just Justin's journey to celebrating his own color as he used the crayons in his crayon box.
Like students in the one room schoolhouse model, the Brown Schoolhouse brings students together. Each character in a Brown Schoolhouse book represents a journey to learn something about one's self--how to be bold or brave, the significance of friendships and loss, and important family narratives. Hopefully the readers and families of kids that read these stories will learn something, too!
